Bong Citizens Protest Supt. Jackson's Dismissal
Bong CountyCitizens of Bong County are protesting the dismissal of Bong County Superintendent Ranney Jackson.

In a press release signed by the citizens bearing the signatures of some stakeholders in the county, the citizens maintained, “we the Commissioner Council and Chiefs of Bong County, Liberia Marketing Association-Bong County Branch, Motorcyclists Union, Christian Association of the Blind of Bong County, Bong County Women Association, War Affected Youths and the Bong Citizens in Action for the Re-election of Ellen, do here-by categorically condemn the action, which we seriously consider a setback to our county”.
Bong County Superintendent Relieved of Post
Bong CountyMonrovia, Liberia - The Superintendent of Bong County, Mr. Ranney Jackson, has been relieved of his post by President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. The decision was taken Thursday by the President to enable the former Bong County Superintendent to give full attention to the pursuit of his political objective.

An Executive Mansion release says that the Acting Superintendent for Development, Ms. Lucia Herbert, will assume responsibility of the Office until further notice.
Over 50 Salala Citizens Embrace Dialogue On Women Rights, Others
Bong CountyMore than 50 residents comprising men, women and youth as well as community leaders of Salala District, Bong County, have participated in a one-day dialogue on women empowerment and human rights.

Organized by the Community Humanitarian Advocacy & Development organization (COHADO), with support from the Fund For Global Human Rights and the African Women Development Fund, the dialogue among other things addressed human rights, district development projects and the participation of women in decision making. Besides, the dialogue highlighted the impact of the County Development Agenda on the citizens of the district.
Battling HIV/AIDS -YAEHD Takes Sensitization To Bong
Bong CountyThirty women in the central Liberian region of Bong County have benefited from a two-day intensive HIV/AIDS workshop to prepare them contribute effectively to the battle against the plague that is claiming millions of lives globally.

The Youth AIDS, Education, Health and Development (YAEHD) said the workshop was part of a series of sensitization workshops it has planned for central Liberia, as efforts intensify to curtail the spread of the virus.
Bare Floor Education -Bong Central High Falls Victim
Bong CountyThe Principal of the Bong Central High School, in Bong Mines, lower Bong County, has lamented a grave chair shortage at the school.

Making the disclosure recently to journalists in the once bustling ore-mining town of Bong Mines, Madam Margaret Stawart said “the school currently lacks sitting capacity in the elementary and kindergarten divisions,” a situation, she said, has led to “many pupils sitting on the bare floor to learn.” According to Madam Stawart, the influx of students at the school has contributed to the problem.
Teachers Drought Engulfs Bong Mines -No Chemistry, Physics Tutors

High school students at the Bong Mines Central High School in lower Bong County have completed the first marking period test without a chemistry and physic teacher.

Disclosing this to journalists in Bong Mines, the Principal of the Bong Central High School Madam Margaret Stawart said the volunteer teachers who were teaching the subjects left the school in search of other jobs.
President Leo Mulbah Urges Bong Citizens to lead for change in Liberia

In his inaugural address to members of the Bong County Association of Georgia, (BCAG) held at the auditorium of the Creative Enterprises, President Leo Mulbah said they must be ready and able builders to usher Bong County into 21st century world class development.

Garbage, Dense Grass Swell in Gbarnga

The central Liberian City of Gbarnga, Bong County, appears to have been taken over by dense grass and forest into which residents go hunting for animals. Our correspondent who recently toured the city discovered that trees that were planted for beautification of the City have over-grown, making the city to appear more or like a village.

In separate interviews, residents expressed grave concerns over the situation which they said has also created huge stockpiles of garbage in the City center. They told the Daily Observer that the garbage has made the city looks filthy, with mosquitoes and other strange creatures all over the place. Residents decried the dumping of the garbage, which they said was posing health and environmental hazards.
Kokoyah District: Kokoyah Citizens Want Amlib, MVP Out

Citizens of Kokoyah Statutory District in Bong County have petitioned the County's leadership, through Superintendent Ranney Jackson and the Bong County Legislative Caucus, to ask the American-Liberian Mineral Company (AMLIB) and the Millennium Village Project (MVP) to halt their operations and leave the District with immediate effect.
